Drums of Turnings
Curly chips from lathes and CNCs: drums fill steadily in any brass shop.
Every brass part that comes off a lathe leaves curly chips behind, and shops sweep them into drums by the hundredweight. Brass turnings are light and bulky, but the drums fill steadily and the brass inside is the real thing. If your shop machines brass, those drums are inventory.
Turnings are the curly chips peeled off brass bar stock on lathes and CNC machines. They are light, springy, and bulky: a full 55-gallon drum holds a few hundred pounds of what looks like golden steel wool. Under the volume is solid brass. Brazing rod belongs to the same family: the brass-alloy filler rod used for brazing, which shops accumulate as partial tubes and offcuts. Both ride the same program.

Bulky for the weight, but a full drum still runs hundreds of pounds of real brass.

Reasonably clean helps, but cutting oil is part of normal turnings. Excessive coolant or mixed metals should be mentioned upfront so the quote is honest.
A magnet check sorts most of it. Mixed chips are still worth a quote: tell us upfront and the grading handles the separation openly.
