Sell Your Industrial Surplus — One Buyer for the Whole Shop

Closing a shop, clearing a plant, or cleaning out years of accumulated surplus? The wire on the reels, the carbide in the tool crib, the breakers in the panel room, the machines on the floor — one buyer for all of it. Ironcrest Industrial Surplus buys mixed industrial surplus in a single deal, so you make one call instead of five. Based in the Chicago area — and I’ll travel anywhere in the country for the right load.

PLATE No. 101 MIXED SURPLUS LOT — SHOP CLEAROUT (TYPICAL) SCALE NTS SHEET 1 OF 1 1MACHINE 2WIRE & CABLE 3BREAKERS 4CARBIDE FIG. 1 — ONE LOT: MACHINES, WIRE, ELECTRICAL, TOOLING WE BUY
One lot: machines, wire and cable, breakers, and carbide tooling — one buyer for all of it
ONE CALL, EVERYTHING HANDLED

The shop is closing. The equipment room is full. Who do you call?

The wire spool buyer only wants the wire. The carbide buyer only wants the carbide. The machinery dealer only wants the machines. So a shop owner with a little of everything ends up on the phone five times, sends photos five times, and negotiates five deals — for material that mostly belongs to one cleanout.

That’s the problem Ironcrest Industrial Surplus was built to solve. Copper wire, carbide tooling, circuit breakers, machinery, and general plant surplus — one buyer for all of it. You send one set of photos, you get one number, and you clear the whole space at once.

Resale value matters to us too. Where your material is usable — new tooling, breakers in the box, wire still on the reel, machines that still run — we look at it as product, not scrap. That distinction is worth finding out before anything gets hauled to a yard.

One Call. One Quote. One Buyer.

WHAT WE BUY

Everything in the lot, one deal

Mixed loads are the point. Each of these is a specialty we buy on its own — together in one lot, they’re handled in a single conversation.

Copper Wire & Cable

Reels and spools of building wire, THHN, service cable, portable cord, welding cable, bus bar, and bare copper. Usable cable may carry resale value beyond the copper inside it. Sell copper →

Carbide Tooling

New and unused inserts, end mills, drills, and taps — plus worn carbide tooling bought for its tungsten value. We look at surplus tooling as product first, material second. Sell carbide →

Circuit Breakers & Electrical

Breakers, panelboards, switchgear, transformers, disconnects, motor starters, and surplus electrical gear. New-in-box gear and obsolete-but-usable inventory both belong in the photo pile. Sell electrical →

CNC & Industrial Machinery

CNC machines, manual lathes and mills, presses, saws, compressors, welding equipment, and material-handling gear. Send nameplate photos and what you know about condition.

Full Plant / Facility Surplus

Whole facilities and plant closures: MRO inventory, racking, tooling rooms, electrical rooms, and everything else still in the building. One buyer for the entire cleanout. Plant closings →

Not sure a category covers what you have? Send photos anyway — mixed lots are the most common quote we write.

HOW IT WORKS

Sell your surplus in three steps

No sorting into five buyer piles. No running the same photos to three different companies.

1. Send photos of everything

Photograph what you have — wide shots for scale, close-ups of nameplates, jacket markings, reel tags, and quantities. Walk the room, send the pictures. Email them to [email protected] or send them through the quote form.

2. Get a fast, free, no-obligation quote

We review the whole lot — wire, carbide, breakers, machines — and reply with one number fast. Free, no obligation, no follow-up call unless you ask for one.

3. Sell if you like the number

If the offer works for you, we talk through the sale. If it doesn’t, no hard feelings — the quote is free and there is no obligation to sell.

WHY ONE BUYER

Why one buyer beats five phone calls

Five buyers, five deals, five headaches

Here’s the normal version of clearing a mixed lot: the wire buyer comes Tuesday, the carbide buyer offers next week, the machinery dealer wants a rigging crew lined up, and the leftover gear sits in the corner for a month. Every buyer takes only their slice. You’re the project manager of your own cleanout — coordinating schedules, re-sending photos, and negotiating a deal that only ever covers half the room.

One buyer, one number, one deal

Ironcrest buys the whole picture. The wire, the carbide, the breakers, the machines — one review, one offer, one transaction. Nobody else is bidding against you on the pieces they don’t want, and nothing you’re willing to sell gets left behind because it isn’t “our category.” One set of photos, one conversation, one deal.

Skip the five calls — send one set of photos →

ONE BUYER VS. BUYBACK PROGRAMS

A straight deal, not a program

Manufacturer buyback programs and mail-in recyclers are built for one thing: their own product line, on their own timeline. You package it up, ship it off, wait for grading, and wait again for a number — and anything outside their program isn’t a fit at all.

Ironcrest buys direct. Your surplus doesn’t have to be one brand, one product line, or one category. It gets reviewed, it gets one offer, and you deal with one person — not a returns portal and a grading queue.

And there’s a practical difference: a buyback program wants its own catalog back. We want your lot — whatever mix of wire, tooling, electrical, and machines came out of your shop, your plant, or your tear-out.

NATIONWIDE

Based in Rolling Meadows, Illinois — travels anywhere in the country

Ironcrest Industrial Surplus is based in Rolling Meadows, Illinois — Chicago-area home turf, where the shops, plants, and teardown projects never stop. For the right load, though, distance doesn’t matter: I’ll travel anywhere in the country to look at real surplus.

The test is simple: if there’s a lot worth quoting, it’s worth the trip. Send the photos first — if the lot makes sense, we’ll talk about the next step.

WHO WE BUY FROM

Who calls the one buyer?

If you’re holding mixed industrial surplus, you’re the person this page is for.

Machine shops

Shops closing out, downsizing, or clearing the back room: carbide tooling, copper wire, machinery, and the miscellaneous surplus every shop accumulates.

Contractors

Electrical and industrial contractors with job-site surplus — leftover wire and cable, unused breakers, panels from upgrades, and equipment from retrofits.

Demolition crews

Crews pulling wire, panels, and equipment out of a tear-out: sell the recovered material to one buyer instead of running it to three different outlets.

Plant managers

Facility and plant managers clearing electrical rooms, MRO cages, tool cribs, and warehouses — or the entire plant in a closure.

Estates & successors

Handling a shop, warehouse, or storage unit you didn’t build? One buyer for the whole contents is the fastest way to make sense of it. Send photos of what you can; we’ll work with that.

Whichever you are — send photos for a free quote →

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Industrial surplus questions, answered.

What kinds of industrial surplus do you buy?

Copper wire and cable, carbide tooling (new/unused and worn), circuit breakers and electrical equipment, CNC and industrial machinery, and general plant and facility surplus. Mixed lots are our most common quote — you don’t need to sort by category first.

Do I have to sell everything at once?

No. The whole point of one buyer is flexibility: sell us the whole lot in a single deal, or sell us only the categories you want gone. The quote covers everything you send photos of — you decide how much of it sells.

How do I get a quote on a mixed lot?

Send photos: wide shots for scale, close-ups of nameplates, jacket markings, reel tags, and quantities. Email them to [email protected] or send them through the quote form. You’ll get a fast, free, no-obligation quote.

What if my equipment has no nameplates or labels?

Send what you have — clear wide shots, any markings you can find, and what you know about where it came from and how it was used. Missing nameplates don’t disqualify a lot; they just mean we ask a few questions back.

How fast will you respond to a quote request?

Within 24 hours. The promise is the same for a single pallet or a whole plant: a fast, free, no-obligation quote once we have your photos.

Do you travel outside the Chicago area?

Yes. Ironcrest Industrial Surplus is based in Rolling Meadows, Illinois — and for the right load, I’ll travel anywhere in the country to look at it. Send the photos first; if the lot makes sense, we’ll talk about the trip.

Should I separate the copper wire and carbide to sell on their own?

You don’t have to. We buy each category on its own merits either way — the advantage of the mixed quote is that everything gets reviewed and priced together, and nothing you’re willing to sell sits unsold because it wasn’t the other buyer’s specialty. If you’ve already separated it, that’s fine too.

What information helps you quote faster?

Photos of the material, nameplates or jacket markings where they exist, honest notes on condition (new, used, unknown), and rough quantities. For machines: what it is and whether it runs. For wire: jacket printing and reel tags. For breakers and panels: ratings and whether they’re new in box. The more the photos show, the faster the quote.
