IRONCRESTINDUSTRIALINDUSTRIAL SURPLUS BUYERS
WHO WE BUY FROM

Who I buy from.

I'm Sonny. I buy copper wire and carbide tooling from the people who actually touch it — electricians, demo crews, machine shops, contractors, plant managers. If you're one of them and you've got a pile, a bin, or a back room full of material, text me a photo. One call, same-day Chicago pickup, cash. Pile gone.

ELECTRICIANS

Leftover pulls from the job site

You know the pile: cutoffs in the van, home runs pulled out on rewires, Romex and THHN scraps from panel upgrades, the box of odds and ends that never made it back to the supply house. It sits in the truck, the garage, the shop corner — worth real money and doing nothing. Hauling it to the yard means waiting in line and getting whatever the scale says. Instead, text me a photo of what you've got. I come to you, I pay cash, and your truck bed is empty again. No load too small — a bucket of cutoffs or a trailer of pulls.

DEMOLITION CREWS

Teardown wire, gone same day

Demo pulls, conduit runs stripped out of walls, busbar out of switchgear, feeder cable from the basement — your crews generate copper every single job, and you want it gone, not managed. I don't talk to you about sorting, weighing, or yards. I come grab it, pay cash, and the pile is gone the same day. If I'm the guy with the bin on your job site, your crew keeps swinging hammers instead of babysitting scrap. Traveling crews welcome — I go where the work is for worthwhile loads.

ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS

Surplus from upgrades and retrofits

Lighting retrofits, panel changeouts, service upgrades, tenant buildouts — every one of them leaves takeoffs: MC cable, pulled conductors, transformers, disconnects, the stuff the job didn't use. Your estimators already know it's there. Rather than letting it stack up in the warehouse or sending a guy to the yard on company time, send me photos and I'll price the lot. Chicago-area pickup, and nationwide for bigger loads.

Contractors with recurring scrap: see our business-to-business scrap metal recycling program — a bin on your site and scheduled pickups.

MACHINE SHOPS

Shop sweepings that look like junk

Worn inserts, dull end mills, broken drills, brazed tooling, the coffee can of carbide by the grinder — it looks like trash, and it's worth real money by the pound. Carbide has no posted price anywhere in the industry; it's priced on the market, grade by grade. Text me a photo of your tooling pile and I'll give you today's number. I also buy copper from the shop: EDM wire, busbar, motor windings, cable off retired machines.

PLANT & FACILITY MANAGERS

Surplus from upgrades and closures

Decommissioned lines, maintenance-crib cleanouts, spare wire and cable that aged out, motors and transformers from retired equipment, whole rooms of material after a plant reorganization. You need it out, documented, and gone without disrupting operations. I handle pickup around your schedule — one call, one visit, one cleared room. For plant closings and full liquidations, see our plant closings page.

ESTATES & CLEANOUTS

Retired shops, garages, and storage units

Inherited a shop? Cleaning out a retired electrician's garage, a storage unit, a barn full of wire and tooling? You don't need to know what any of it is — that's my job. Send photos of everything, and I'll tell you what's worth buying and come get it. One trip, paid within 24–48 hours, space back.

WHY SELL TO ME INSTEAD OF THE YARD

One call beats a trip to the scale.

The yard makes you load it, haul it, wait in line, and take their number. I come to you. You text a photo, I give you today's number — prices move with the market daily, so you always know where you stand before I show up. Same-day pickup in the Chicago area, paid within 24–48 hours, and no minimum: 10 pounds or 10,000 pounds, the truck rolls either way. You talk to me, Sonny, the buyer — not a window, not a form, not a call center.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Seller questions, answered.

Is there a minimum load?

No. A bucket of cutoffs or a trailer of pulls — if it's copper or carbide and worth my trip, I'll come get it. Text a photo and I'll tell you straight.

Do I need to strip or sort my wire?

No — please don't strip it yourself. I grade it as-is and price it by grade. Stripping is my problem, not yours.

How fast can you pick up?

Chicago area: usually same day. Anywhere else in the country for worthwhile loads — send photos and I'll tell you when I can be there.

Do I need ID to sell you copper?

Yes — a valid photo ID, and you must be 18 or older and the lawful owner of the material. That's Illinois law, and I follow it to the letter.

How do I get paid?

Cash, on pickup, when I load your material. Simple.
