PLATE No. 060

Yes, we buy partial reels. That is the main part of the business.

Jobs end with wire left on the reel — half a reel of 12 AWG THHN, the remainder of a feeder pull, a pallet of cutoffs. That leftover is exactly what we buy. Partial reels, full reels, coils, and cutoffs: at any fill level, in common types. If it is copper wire with a known type and gauge, we want to see it. Read your reel markings or just photograph them — we decode them for you.

What we buy.

  • Partial and full reels — THHN, feeders, building wire, tray cable; any fill level.
  • Contractor and electrician leftovers — pull-offs, cutoffs, panel-upgrade remnants.
  • Demolition and teardown wire — building wire, armored cable, feeders from strip-outs. (Demolition copper guide →)
  • Plant closures and industrial surplus — tray cable, control cable, motor leads, heavy flex.
  • Insulated or stripped — sell it whichever way suits you; we buy both.

How quoting works.

One — photograph it. Reel markings, a cut end or two, and the overall lot. Two — send it. Email photos to [email protected] or use the quote form. Three — get a straight answer. We identify the wire, grade it, and put the quote in writing. Questions first? Call or text 312-880-8174.

Chicago local, nationwide reach.

We are based in the Chicago area — local sellers get straightforward, in-person transactions. And we buy wire nationwide: photographed lots ship or get picked up wherever the economics work. One partial reel or a warehouse of them — the process is the same: photos, a straight quote, a done deal.

Sell it the straightforward way.

Photograph what you have — the wire, any jacket markings, and the overall quantity — and send it to Ironcrest for today’s offer. We buy nationally and coordinate pickup from your site.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions, answered.

Do you buy partial reels of wire?

Yes — partial reels are the main part of our business. Any fill level, any common type: THHN, feeders, building wire, tray cable. Photograph the reel markings and the remaining wire and send them for a quote.

I am an electrician with leftover wire from jobs. Do you buy that?

Absolutely. Contractor and electrician leftovers — pull-offs, cutoffs, panel-upgrade remnants — are a core part of what we buy. Sort by type if you can; if not, photograph it and we will sort it out together.

How do I get a quote for my wire?

Photograph the reel or jacket markings, a cut end or two, and the overall quantity, then email them or use our quote form. We identify the wire, grade it, and give you a straight written quote.

Do I need to strip my wire before selling?

No. We buy wire insulated or stripped — whichever suits you. If you strip, heavy wire grades higher; if you would rather skip the labor, sell it insulated. Either way is a real quote.

Do you buy wire outside Chicago?

Yes — we buy nationwide. Local Chicago-area sellers can meet in person; everyone else photographs the lot and we work out the logistics that make sense for the quantity.

What information do you need to quote a reel?

The wire type and gauge (from the reel or jacket markings), how much is left, and whether it is insulated or stripped. Three photos — markings, cut end, overall lot — usually answer all of it.
