MACHINE SHOP SURPLUS

Sell Machine Shop Surplus Without Throwing Good Tooling Into Scrap.

Machine shop cleanouts often mix valuable unused tooling with worn carbide and general surplus. Ironcrest reviews tool crib inventories, carbide inserts, solid carbide cutting tools and related industrial material so each stream can be evaluated on its own merits.

MATERIALS WE REVIEW

What to include in your submission

  • Carbide inserts and indexable tooling
  • Solid carbide drills and end mills
  • Unused tool crib inventory and new-old-stock
  • Used, broken and scrap carbide
  • Electrical and maintenance-room surplus
  • Cleanout inventory from machine shops and CNC facilities

Start with photos, not paperwork.

For an initial review, send clear overall photos plus close-ups of manufacturer labels, part numbers or nameplates when available. Include approximate quantity, city/state, condition and your preferred timing.

Preserve value: Keep identifiable equipment and unused material intact until it has been reviewed. Cutting, mixing or removing labels can make resale evaluation harder.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you send the inventory

How should a tool crib be photographed?

Start with wide drawer or cabinet photos, then close-ups of labels and representative part numbers. Keep unused tooling in original packaging.

Do you buy both new and scrap carbide?

Both can be reviewed, but they should be separated when possible because unused tooling may have a different value path than scrap.

Can a recurring carbide pickup program be set up?

Ironcrest also offers a container-program approach for shops generating carbide on an ongoing basis.

HAVE MATERIAL READY NOW?
